Membership Benefits

The ACL has been in existence since the early 1970’s and is the only professional organization in the United States for consortium directors and associated personnel.  Currently there are more than sixty ACL consortia members and because it is a small organization, it is very useful to members who interact with one another, sharing ways to become more successful at their work.

If you are involved in
…the thinking stage,
…the active planning phase, or
…the implementation stage
of a collaborative structure involving higher education institutions you need to join the ACL community.

The Purposes of ACL

  • To share information and to assist in developing cooperative strategies and programs designed to strengthen post-secondary education;
  • To conduct and encourage research and evaluation in the field of inter-institutional relations;
  • To articulate the philosophy of the voluntary consortium in post-secondary education and to find ways to make both the philosophy and practice widely known;
  • To maintain a service and resource center for consortia;
  • To play an active role in broadening the number and kind of cooperative agencies; and
  • To assist with the continuing education of persons in consortium work.
